(State House, Boston) State Representative Christine Canavan (D-Brockton) was thrilled to be apart of Good Samaritan Medical Center’s ribbon cutting late last week. On Thursday, October 13th, the Medical Center was proud to unveil their new Emergency Department.
The old faciltity was said to have been cramped and lacking the necessary space and privacy in times of great emergency. The medical center caters to roughly 10 of the surrounding communities, with the hope that it can now expand even further.
“This was exactly what Good Samaritan needed,” said Representative Canavan. “As a Registered Nurse, nothing makes me happier than to see the needs of our medical community met. The building is beautiful and I am just glad I was able to attend the celebration.”
The new facility is nearly twice the size of its predecessor at 32,000 square feet. There are 45 treatment centers compared to 25, as well as 9 ambulance bays instead of only 2. According to President Jeffrey Liebman, the new center even leaves more room to grow, up to four levels, if it is needed.
The official opening for the new emergency center was Wednesday, October 19th.
